This fountain was built in 1927 in memory of Clarence Buckingham , prominent in Chicago in banking and real state circles, He died on Aug 30, 1913.
The fountain is distinguished not only for its exquisite decorative details and finely
wrought bronze sculptures but also for its innovative use of technology which creates a dynamic light and water display on a massive scale. Designated as a Chicago Landmark on Aug 30, 2000.

Why memorial fountain? What's the historical significance of the place?
