At least you're self-reliant. I remember my first job as "pion" or helper in a construction job. I used to haul hollow blocks and mix sand, gravel and cement. The money I received during payday was not much because cost of the pieces of hollow blocks I broke every time I hauled them were deducted from my wage. I turned over my first wage to my high school sweetheart Rebing. In which until now I used to give all my earnings to her.

I remember scraping that water tank of rust and applying red lead as a summer job
with Nick. We also scrapped the "pugon" after the galing with Enrico. We looked like we worked in the mine because we were covered with black ash at the end of the day. We were rich by the end of summer.
